More than 50 Lithuanian singers, conductor Vytautas Miškinis, Toulouse (France) choirs, Master classes at the Conservatory, Concerts at the Auditorium St-Pierre des Cuisines, at the Basilica St-Sernin, at the Church of the Gesù - all of this awaits as part of the Lithuanian Season in France 2024.
The relationship between France and Lithuania is marked by several centuries of cultural, artistic, intellectual and scientific exchanges. French thinkers had a great influence on the political, social and cultural life of Lithuania in the 19th and 20th centuries. Similarly, the influence of French modern art on Lithuanian artists, many of whom studied painting, sculpture or architecture in France, is particularly significant in the arts or urban planning.
Seen from France, Lithuania still seems largely undiscovered. The Lithuanian Season in France 2024 aims to be the starting point for a renewal of the Franco-Lithuanian cultural exchanges. The Lithuanian Season in France, born from a partnership between the two countries, will present contemporary Lithuania and its culture to the French public through the most diverse forms: performances, exhibitions, shows, screenings, debates, conferences, gastronomy. It also aims to initiate long-term cooperation between Lithuanian institutions and creators and their French partners. A flagship event of The Lithuanian Season in France will take place from November 21 to 24, 2024 at the Xavier Darasse Regional Conservatory in Toulouse. The Conservatory will host a Lithuanian choir composed of more than 50 choristers led by the renowned Lithuanian conductor, Vytautas Miškinis. The guest choir will join several other Toulouse choirs and their respective choir directors.
These three days will be an opportunity to discover the emblematic places of Toulouse, to participate in master classes at the Conservatory, to see concerts at the Auditorium Saint-Pierre des Cuisines, at the Basilica of Saint-Sernin, at the Church of the Gesù, at the Church of Notre Dame de la Dalbade and at the Halle aux Grains, and to exchange in an environment rich in culture and creativity.
