Uniqueness

Lithuanian Song Celebration is unique in its spirit and its content. Learn about the mystical Cantor Lituanus tribe and find out more about all the events of the Celebration!

Another slightly smaller event of the Lithuanian Song Celebration is the Kanklės’ Concert. This traditional string instrument is honoured with special attention for its origin related to the ancient religion and the playing traditions, reaching the 15th- 18th centuries.

The kanklės’ concerts as part of Lithuanian Song Celebrations are dedicated to honour the prominent kanklės’ players from the clash of the 19th-20th centuries, which had given the start for the modern kanklės’ playing school, as well as to honour the craftsmen, who had reconstructed the ancient kanklės and later modified them. The kanklės sound enchanting as if taking back to the past, back to our roots.

A rare Lithuanian knows playing the kanklės. So where else if not at this wonderful event one can enjoy the melodies played by the kanklės. The uniquely sounding ancient instrument grasps the attention of both small and big ears.
